Bernard Benning Academic Excellence and Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship celebrates Bernard Benning for his long-time service and commitment to Bow Valley College, including his role as founding chair of the Bow Valley College’s Golf Tournament Committee to create the Academic Excellence Scholarship program. The scholarship celebrates Bernie’s leadership contributions and dedication to the College community. It also recognizes the vision and determination of students working to achieve their educational goals, to benefit themselves and their family.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Awarded to a domestic student who is full time, and completed a minimum of one semester within a BVC program.
Selection Criteria:
  • Academic excellence
  • Leadership

Requirement:
  • Must write a full page essay on how best they utilize or will utilize their Bow Valley College education to contribute to our community through leadership
Value:
  • $3,000
Disbursement:
  • 1 per year

Legacy Builders Endowment Scholarship 

This award has been created through the generosity, vision and forward thinking attributes of a team of leaders within the City of Calgary: Beaubien Glover Maskell Engineers; GEC Architecture Interior Design Urban Planning (Mr. Kenneth A. Cartier, Mr. David J. Edmunds, Mr. Martin P. Jones); Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd.and Stantec Consulting Ltd. These civic minded leaders have created the Legacy Builders Endowment in recognition of the value that a Bow Valley College education has on its students and the impact that these students can have in the City of Calgary both from a work perspective and a civic engagement perspective.

  • Awarded to a domestic student who is full time, registered in a BVC program.

Minister of Advanced Education Awards

Awarded to a full time student with community/volunteer involvement.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Awarded to a domestic student who is full time, and completed a minimum of one semester within a BVC program.
  • A 200 words essay about your community or volunteer involvement.
Selection Criteria:
  • Academic Excellence
  • Community/Volunteer Involvement
Requirement:
  • 1 award gives preference to an Aboriginal student
  • 1 award gives preference to a new Canadian
  • 2 awards give preference to students with disabilities
  • 1 award gives preference to an on-line learner working toward a certificate or diploma program
Value: $2500
Disbursement: 5 per year

Brookman Award

This award was created by the College in recognition and appreciation of Mr. George Brookman, key note speaker at Graduation January 2015. This award is provided to a full time student who demonstrates academic excellence, professionalism, teamwork and inspiration.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Awarded to a domestic student who is full time, and completed a minimum of one semester within a BVC program.
Selection Criteria:
  • Academic excellence
  • Mentorship

Requirement:
  • Explain how you demonstrate professionalism in and out of the classroom.
